Fertile Ground Grant Program

Welcome to the Fertile Ground Grant Program page! We are excited to be part of this project alongside the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community (SMSC), the Voices for Healthy Kids (AHA), and most importantly, YOU!

This grant opportunity was inspired by the 2016 Fertile Ground II Policy Convening participants, who voiced strong interest in strategies that could empower planning, organizing and building support for Native-led advocacy and policy change at local and regional levels. This grant opportunity is intended to allow for thoughtful planning and engagement with strategic approaches to policy change for sustainable community health improvements.

American Indian Cancer Foundation, Shakopee tribe, and American Heart Association jointly award $175,000 in health grants to five Native American organizations. The organizations selected to receive grants include: College of Menominee Nation (Wisconsin), Community Outreach and Patient Empowerment (New Mexico), Feed Seven Generations (Washington), 4-Directions Development (Minnesota) and Na'ah Illahe Fund (Washington). For the full announcement and more information please see,Β Fertile Ground Grant Program Press Release 3/12/18.
