Laura is an enrolled member of the Red Lake Band of Chippewa. She is a Community Health Worker new to this field of work and plans on continuing her education in Social Work. Laura is very passionate about helping American Indians learn how to advocate for themselves and have a more proactive approach to their health and healthcare decisions. She strives to raise awareness in Indian Country about health disparities. Previously, Laura was a Community Health Worker intern providing support to AICAF programs and assisted in the coordination of Powwow for Hope. As Project Coordinator of the Pink Shawls Project, Laura educates American Indian women about the importance of breast health and promotes cancer screening.
